Commercial Director

What will you do?

As Commercial Director, you will be responsible for all commercial strategies and activities of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, including rooms, Ciel Bleu, Yamazato, Sazanka, Serre, the conference facilities, bars, Nagomi Gym & Wellness, and Nagomi Spa.

You will lead the commercial department, overseeing the Sales, Groups & Events, Revenue & Business Performance, and Reservations teams. You will work closely with the Director of Marketing & Branding to ensure a unified commercial strategy. As part of the management team, you will report directly to the General Manager.

Your focus will be on developing and implementing innovative, profitable, and data-driven commercial strategies. Additionally, you will ensure that Hotel Okura Amsterdam is positioned as the preferred choice for both business and leisure travelers.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Sales and Revenue Management: Developing long-term strategies for rooms, restaurants, bars, spa, and conference facilities to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Commercial Collaboration: Aligning efforts across Sales, Revenue, Distribution, and Operations to achieve commercial and hotel objectives.
  • Optimization of Distribution Channels: Strengthening collaborations with OTAs, GDS, LHW, and consortia to increase direct bookings and profitability.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Analyzing market trends, competition, and performance data to support strategic decisions.
  • Management of Large Events and Group Bookings: Working with the Groups & Events department to execute high-quality events and business meetings.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintaining strong relationships with key clients, travel agents, and business partners.
  • Collaboration with Marketing: Ensuring consistent and effective commercial communication in cooperation with the Director of Marketing & Branding.

  • Contract: 1 year with the possibility of extension to a permanent contract.

  • Bonus: 3 months’ salary upon achieving departmental and personal goals and meeting the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit).

Who are you?

  • You have a proven track record in Sales and Revenue Management within the luxury hospitality sector (minimum 5 years).
  • You have a bachelor's degree or another relevant qualification.
  • You possess excellent leadership skills and are commercially driven.
  • You have a strong sense of responsibility and outstanding communication skills.
  • You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • You can successfully manage large and complex projects.
  • You are analytical and use data to drive and measure results.
